Across 11 randomised placebo-controlled trials in 805 people, oral collagen supplements improved skin elasticity, hydration and dermal collagen density, with no adverse events reported. Most trials used collagen hydrolysate at 2.5 g to 10 g a day for 8 to 24 weeks.
