A systematic review of studies from 2011 to 2022 found that moderate and vigorous activity, strength training and interactive sports were all associated with longer life expectancy, but the best strength training outcomes were linked to a cumulative dose of about 60 minutes per week, and very large volumes of strenuous exercise or weightlifting may not be ideal for longevity.

What it shows: Strong but still correlational: a sweep of a decade of studies, most of which followed people rather than testing exercise on them, so it shows patterns in who lives longer rather than proof that the exercise caused it. The sweet spots it describes are averages across big populations, not tested limits for any individual.Meta-analysis · Mo Med
