Across 20 randomised trials, mindfulness-based stress reduction did not improve objective or subjective sleep quality in people with chronic insomnia, and against active comparison treatments it did not ease daytime problems such as depression, anxiety, stress or fatigue. Only compared with being left on a waitlist did people rate their sleep slightly better.
