Computer-based CBT cut heavy drinking days

Adults with alcohol use disorder who were not in treatment cut their drinking days faster on a computer-delivered CBT programme, and were significantly less likely to report any heavy drinking day a month later. It was a feasibility trial with self-reported outcomes and no active comparison group.

What it shows: One feasibility trial, N=160 community volunteers recruited online in the US (68.1% female, mean age 42.6, range 19-76), randomised 3:1 with an assessment-only comparison rather than an active control; all drinking outcomes were self-reported and follow-up stopped at one month.RCT · Alcohol Clin Exp Res (Hoboken)
