Vitamin D eased eczema severity across four pooled trials

People with atopic dermatitis who took vitamin D scored lower on symptom severity than those given placebo, an average difference of 5.81 points across the pooled trials. The reviewers judged it a safe and tolerable option while calling for bigger, longer studies to confirm the effect.

For you: If you deal with eczema, vitamin D is worth knowing about as a supplement with early trial support behind it, though the evidence base is still only a handful of small studies.

What it shows: Promising but thin: only four placebo trials could be pooled and they partly disagreed with each other, so the true size of the benefit is uncertain. The reviewers themselves say larger studies over longer treatment periods are needed before this counts as settled.Meta-analysis · Nutrition
