Eleven trials qualified, contributing 870 participants in total, of whom 451 were allocated to collagen supplementation and 419 to placebo. Results were pooled statistically, with the pooling method chosen according to how much the trials varied from each other, and the risk of bias in each trial was assessed with the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2.0 tool. The outcomes were scores of knee function and pain.
