Essential amino acids (EAAs) are the nine amino acids the body cannot make. Because all nine are needed to build muscle protein, a full-spectrum EAA dose genuinely stimulates muscle protein synthesis — unlike BCAAs alone, which provide only an incomplete signal.

The catch is that any complete protein already delivers the EAAs, so for someone hitting their daily protein target the supplement adds little. EAAs make most sense in niche situations such as very low appetite or specific clinical settings, not as a routine extra for well-fed trainees.
